Take two

Well.

Coming off the heels of having multiple discussions this week about how dropping out of school would be the wrong choice - academic confidence, engagement in learning, feelings of community and knowledge of strengths/interests/talents are seemingly nowhere to be found.

Well, that's not entirely true. As I sit here and reflect on the discussions, a silver lining does shine through somewhat, and I'll take whatever I can get. He is much more self aware than he used to be. His ability to self reflect and talk about how he reacts given certain situations is more astute. He can admit when he didn't handle a situation well, and will listen to what some other alternatives could have been. He is starting to develop a curiousity as to why he can be more successful at work, but not at school. Why is he able to take direction there, but not here? Surely it can't just be because he is getting paid....can it? Is it really that simple? I refuse to believe that.
